Two police officers are facing interdiction for allegedly stealing and killing a goat belonging to a former Police Commander in Assin Bereku in the Central Region.

The two police officers identified as Sani and Michael also known as “Micky” are to face disciplinary action for stealing the goat which belonged to their former boss, Chief Inspector Alhaji Abubakar Saliki who was the Assin Breku police station officer.

The evil activity of the two officers in uniform came to light when two sons of the transferred Police commander while taking stock of the animals realised that one of the goats did not return to the pen.

Unhappy about it, the sons of the police officers started searching for the animal. Sani and Micky were named as the ones who stole the animal by one, Aditalma Benjamin as the ones who stole the animal after the former had been arrested for slaughtering and preparing the goat.

Adom FM’S Alfred Amoh narrated that Aditalma upon his arrest confessed that he was contracted by the two to slaughter the animal and prepare it. He was also given a portion of the mutton as his wages for helping slaughter the stolen animal.

The rest of the meat was shared between the police officers who hurriedly took them to their wives and ordered that the meat be used for supper.

One of the wives of the police officers after receiving the meat also gave some to her friend as according to her the meat was more than enough for one family.

Amoh added that it was during the search for the search for the missing goat that the friend of the police officer’s wife claimed that she had been offered a mutton by a friend and suspected it might be the meat of the missing goat.

Further investigations led to the arrest of Aditalma Benjamin as the one who slaughtered the goat and shared the meat. During interrogation, he also named Sani and Micky as the ones who brought the goat to him to be slaughtered.

The two, when invited confessed stealing theIrish Commander’s goat insisting that they stole the animal because they suspected their commander would not give them any while going on transfer despite he always sending them to go fetch grass to feed them.

The case was reported to their superiors who insist that they may face interdiction for stealing the animal.

Residents react
Residents who spoke to Adom news threatened to resist arrest if the two officers in question are not transfered from the community.

The residents insisted that the two police officers must be transferred because they now lack the moral right to arrest their ‘fellow thieves’.

Assin Fosu divisional police commander, Chief Supt. Henry Bacho said the two officers will be facing disciplinary action since the case has been forwarded to the Central regional commander.
