Winneba (C/R) April 30, GNA - Mr Alex Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu Constituency has urged his constituents to bury their differences in order to be participants of the numerous initiatives President Nana Akufo Addo's government had put in place.

He stated that the forefathers of Effutu contributed a lot to the development of the area and it was their turn to do away with accusations and counter accusations and hold firmly to the cultures and values that would ensure development.

Mr Afenyo-Markin made the call in a statement he delivered to commend Easter celebrants in the constituency.

He stated that since Easter reminded people of the sacrifices made by Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind and for remission of sins of humanity and called on Effutuman to contribute their quota immensely towards growth and development.

'Our Aboakyre festival is just around the corner and as people we should rally behind it in order to attract the needed investment and to ensure that its full tourism potentials are exploited and explored'.

The MP said 'we cannot continue to mar the festival with the necessary tension, and conflicts, saying when parties disagree and cannot be resolved, the court is the venue for redress' and when the court decides, no matter how huge disagreement are; they are bound to respect the decision.'

He underscored the need for all disputants in all cases in the constituency to use the court system for redress such issues

Mr Afenyo-Markin appealed to people who have cultivated the habit of disturbing the peace of the area especially during the celebration of the festival to eschew such attitudes since it marred the beauty of the festival and also retarded development.

'The security agencies will not hesitate to drastically deal with any recalcitrant group of people to serve as deterrents to others and for that matter I urge all and sundry to be mindful of whatsoever you do in order not to be found wanting.'

'As the MP, I promise to continue to serve the community devoid of any discrimination, without any ill feeling, to be fair to all that together we forge ahead as one people with a common destiny,' He added.
