BESSFA Rural Bank engages stakeholders

Garu (U/E), April 28, GNA - The BESSFA Rural Bank has engaged its stakeholders as part of its effort to ensure that policies formulated addressed their concerns.

Among the issues discussed were the net asset of the bank, microfinance projects, loans recovery, international money transfers and the E-zwich services amongst others.

The 23rd Annual General Meeting of the Bank brought together all stakeholders and the general public to Garu in the Garu-Tempane District to deliberate on the affairs of the bank.

Mr Solomon Atigah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, said in this era of democracy there is the need to get every stakeholder involved in planning for the development of the Bank hence the meeting.

He said it is the intension of the Bank to support its stakeholders by rolling out policies such as giving out flexible loans to farmers, women groups and other institutions in of need financial support.

Mr Atigah said the Bank in collaboration with the APEX Association of Rural Banks (ARB) in Ghana was instituting an insurance policy for customers that would help protect them in their businesses.

He called on all stakeholders to invest in the Bank by buying and encouraging others to buy shares as the Central Bank of Ghana was expecting the Bank to pull a minimum capital of GH¢600,000 as its annual capital.

Mr Gaaga Azitariga, Vice Chairman for the Upper East Regional chapter of the APEX ARB, commended the Bank for its role in the micro insurance sector and the fight to reduce poverty in the area.

He urged Bank of Ghana to continue partnering the rural banking sector by responding to the financial needs of rural banks and help promote sustainable and inclusive growth.
