Titus Glover, Deputy Minister of Transport, has charged management of Metro Mass Transport (MMT) to retrieve debts owed the company.

According to the deputy minister, nobody would be allowed to wrongly spend government’s money and go scot-free.

Mr Glover made the call when he paid a working visit to ISTC and told management of the company to sanction the culprits.

He asked management about the progress made in the case in which about GHc64,000 was paid into the personal account of Steven Abukari, Assistant Traffic Operations Manager in-charge of Depot Management last year during the election period instead of the company’s account.

Mr. Glover also tasked management to, as a matter of urgency, get to the bottom of the matter and sanction the culprit.

The Deputy Minister said Nana Addo’s government would not condone any corrupt practices by public and civil servants.

He asked management to also retrieve $1.2 million locked up in a spare parts deal the company entered into in 2008.

“MMT must work again and if it will work again we need to start doing things differently. The old ways should not be repeated,” Mr. Glover said.

He urged the management and staff of the company to desist from acts that impede the growth of the company such as stealing of vehicle spare parts, among others.

“Such an attitude should stop at once. We will not spare anybody who goes contrary to the decision of the board, be it a management member or ordinary staff,” Mr. Glover said.

The Deputy Minister also took time to address the junior and senior staff of the company after listening to their concerns.

The Acting Managing Director, MMT, Aaron Goza, in his remarks, enumerated some of the challenges the company was facing and some measures put in place to address them.

He gave assurance that management would work hard to put the company in a good position.
