APR 24, 2017 LISTEN

Supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atwima-Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, have issued a clear warning to their Member of Parliament and Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah to stop meddling in the appointment of a District Chief Executive (DCE) for the district.

The enraged NPP group, who claim to be mainly grassroot people of the party, have further vowed to resist any attempt by the minister to impose any person as DCE for the district even if it becomes necessary to stage series of protests.

"Hon Isaac Asiamah should stop interfering with the appointment of a DCE for Atwima Mponua district and concentrate on his work as MP and minister," the angry NPP scribes warned.

This reporter’s attempt to reach the sports minister for clarifications failed since several calls to his MTN number 0244697****** ended up unanswered and calls to his Special Aide, Collins Addai on his contact 0542661****** also proved abortive.

The group, who spoke under very strict conditions of anonymity in a telephone interview with ModernGhana alleged that MP is doing everything within his powers to impose someone on them as DCE though the person in question is not fit for the position.

They allege further that some coordinators have been asked by the sports minister to compile names, voters ID numbers and contacts of polling station executives with the aim of securing them jobs at the ministry but they have realised the Hon. Isaac Asiamah has a different intention and motives.

They said the MP is in attempts to use their names as if they have endorsed his favourite from the list of names for the DCE position.

Meanwhile, the NPP leadership in the constituency have disassociated themselves from the compilation of names and other details of polling station executives since they claim they do not know anything about the exercise.

They also appealed to President Akufo-Addo to appoint a competent person, and for that matter a grassroot person as DCE for Atwima Mponua, so that come 2020 elections NPP votes in the constituency will increase.
