The Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, has bemoaned the activities of vigilante groups in the country. He describes their operations as regrettable and condemnable as they are uncalled for.

His comments comes in the wake of a recent attack by pro- New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group, Delta force on the Kumasi Circuit Court.

Speaking to the media during a three-day annual regional conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Wa, the leader repressed worry over the formation of vigilante groups which in his view, are vehicles for causing mayhem and political instability in the country.

According to him, he made a call two years ago for the disablement of these groups but no action was taken.

He therefore renewed his call for the disbandment of these groups as they pose security threats to the nation and also tarnish our image in the international front.

' Vigilante groups are uncalled for, we call for the disablement of these vigilante groups which are military wings of political parties, tertiary institution network organisations and other student organisations that are under the umbrella of political parties cause they are fertile grounds for disability of the country.'

He emphasized the need to disband these groups as they make no positive impact in the development of the country. He describes them as ' signs of a retrogressive society ' .

The Ahmadiyya Mission holds a three-day regional conference in Wa in the Upper West Region under the theme "Tolerance and self-restriction, a pre-requisite for national stability and cohesion".
