Accra, April 16, GNA - Mighty Power Prayer Ministry (MPPM) has donated assorted items worth over GH¢2,500.00 to the New Life Nungua Children's Home in Accra.

The items were bags of rice and maize, cartons of milo and milk, biscuits, candies, boxes of mineral water and drinks, cooking oil and a television set.

The rest were washing powder, key soap, toilet rolls, detergents, tooth paste and brushes as well as bags of new and used clothes.

The MPPM also presented a cheque of GH¢1,000.00 to the officials of the home to help in the management of the facility.

Reverend Solomon Mensah Boye, the Head Pastor of MPPM, who made the presentation, said it was part of their social responsibility to respond to the needs of the less privileged in society.

He said the presentation which also conformed to Scripture aimed at treating the inmates well especially in the season when Christians were remembering the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

'There is the need to make the less affected feel at home and always know that people care for them wherever they find themselves,' he said.

Rev. Mensah Boye said Easter marked the salvation with fear and trembling and it was time Christians contributed whole hearted towards the work of God.

He advised Christians to let go of the spirit of self-centeredness and pursue the work of God adding; 'Jesus is coming and there is the need to take up responsibilities like this.'

Mr Gabriel Nikoi Kortey, the Chairman of the Welfare Committee of the Church, said the presentation part of activities slated for this year's Easter celebration.

He said the church, which was established in 2009, had the vision of establishing an orphanage as well as a school that would assist needy but brilliant students.

'Seven years in existence, this is our first time of carrying out this initiative, which is in line with our vision as a church and is going to be a periodic event for us as a church,' he said.

Mr Nikoi Kortey advised the children to make proper use of all the available facilities saying; 'you can be whatever you want to be no matter where you find yourself, since perseverance and determination are the keys you need to sail through.'

Nii Afotey Botwe II, the Founder of the New Life Nungua Children's Home, thanked the MPPM for its support and appealed to other churches and organisations to emulate their kind gesture.

MPPM, since its first inaugural service in November 2009, has the vision of propagating the Gospel both in and outside the country. GNA
