Teachers at Nsaba Secondary School on strike

Agona Nsaba, April 29, GNA- Teachers at the Nsaba Presbyterian Secondary School, have embarked on a strike action in solidarity with their three colleagues who have been sanctioned by the school authorities over allegations of misconduct and compromising discipline and academic work.

The affected teachers are, Mr Owusu-Dankwa, Head of the Science Department, Mrs Araba Quaqraine, Home Economics and Mr A.S. Haruna Head of the Business Department received their letters of release from the school by the Board of Governors and the School Administration.

Mr Kuma Denu, Welfare Officer of the school told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the disciplinary measure infuriated the teaching staff who refused to offer vacation classes to the final year students.

Mr Vincent Arhin-Hayford, Assistant Headmaster, in charge of Administration, said the three heads of department had been served with letters to look for schools of their own choice after a Board meeting in February this year.

Meanwhile, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, acting District Chief Executive and Member of Parliament for Agona East, has directed the District Education Oversight Committee to instruct the Board of Governors and the school administration to withdraw the letters.
