DCE praises examination officers for good work

Winneba(C/R), April 28, GNA- The Acting District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Captain Steve Kwamena Armah (Rtd), has praised examination officers and security personnel who played diverse roles in last week's Basic School Certificate Examinations (BECE) in the area. Commenting on the performance of the officers who conducted various oversight duties during the five-day exercise in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at his office in Winneba on Tuesday, Capt. Armah described their contribution as excellent and commendable. He also praised the over 4,000 candidates who took part in the examinations in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district for the high sense of comportment which They exhibited during the examination period.

Capt. Armah said the fact that the district did not record any examination papers leakage and other malpractices in the area indicate that things were gradually changing for the better. He said this marks the beginning of greater things to come and advised the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC), the Ghana Education Service (GES) not to be swollen-headed by this year's achievements. Capt. Armah said the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly would work out effective methods to strengthen the work of WEAC and the GES in subsequent years for more successes. The district examinations officer, the Reverend Julius Y. Akama, and Mr E. P. Azandu, an Assistant Director of Education in-charge of supervision, also described the general conduct of the programme in the area as very successful.

On behalf of the district directorate of the GES, the two officials extended their appreciation to all stakeholders in education in the district for their prayers and good counselling which helped in making the entire nation-wide exercise a big success.
