Designate One Of Three Deputies To Handle Local Content—Federation Of Indigenous Ghanaian Oil Service Providers

The Federation of Indigenous Ghanaian Oil Service Providers (FIGOSP) has called on the president HE Nana Akufo Addo to designate one of the three Deputy Ministers of Energy to be in charge of Local Content.

The Federation while welcoming the nominations by the president also proposed that the three Deputy ministers should be in charge of Power, Petroleum and Local Content to ably compliment the work of their boss the substantive minister.

In a release signed by President and secretary of the Federation, Mr. Mills Yamoah and Mr. Onasis Kobby respectively, the Federation advised the president to pay keen attention to the optimization of the Local Content Act of the Energy scope of the country.

“The locals must be offered protection by Government in securing the opportunities within the industry and to build capacities of local for future good of the citizenry”. The Federation stated.

It also said the Deputy in charge of Local content must be a checker on the Petroleum Commission, Energy Commission, Operator (Petroleum and Power) and all relevant institutions whose duty is to aid the potency of the country’s Local Content Acts.

Proper Monitoring and Supervision it noted, is needed to ensure a religious adherence to what our the laws of the land dictate.
