Members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) have stressed that the fallen standards in education will be more aggravated if pragmatic steps are not taken to improve the working conditions of teachers.

According to them, many of them complain of seriously regretting to have chosen the teaching profession as most teachers have spent almost all the lives in hopelessness, desperation and total economic hardships. These were some of the grievances expressed at the 2nd Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Ga District Member of GNAT. It was under the theme "The Welfare of Teachers and The Fallen Standards In Education.

In a brief statement, the deputy minister of Information, Madam Ayorkor Botchwey said government places a high role premium on the crucial role teacher's play in the nation's human resource development, and is working on motivating teachers to give off their best.
