Vice President, Mahamadu Bawumia, has challenged Muslim youth to take advantage of government’s tax cuts and venture into entrepreneurship.

He said the current government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment to ensure self-enterprise in Ghana thrives and generate jobs.

Dr Bawumia was speaking on Saturday in Kumasi at the 49th celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed, an event organized annually by the Tijaniyyah Muslims and the entire Muslim community in Ghana.

“Ghana is entering into a Golden Age of business and this environment, self-enterprise and innovation, is the future,” he said.

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Attah also scrapped 17.5 percent VAT on domestic air tickets and financial services as well as levies on spare parts during the 2017 budget presentation to Parliament early this month.

The tax cuts were a key campaign promise of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

The Vice President also urged the youth to cultivate the spirit of endurance and patience to achieve their goals.

He cited President Nana Akufo-Addo as an example of someone whose patience earned him the ultimate goal of the Presidency.
