Ejura (Ash), Mar 24, GNA - An official of the Ejura-Skeyedumase Municipal Assembly has called for everybody to accept to do the right things to keep the environment clean.

Nana Okrah Kwame, an Assistant Director, said they should not litter - to help prevent flooding, as the rains set in.

He made the call when he addressed the 29th refresher and business meeting of the Ghana Baptist Convention's Ministers' Conference in Ejura.

He said it was deeply troubling that people persistently threw rubbish into open drains, dumped waste at unauthorized points and shamelessly defecated in the open.

The poor attitude to environmental sanitation, he added, needed to stop - it should not continue.

Nana Krah invited the church to join the national effort to rid the communities of filth, saying, it should have vital role to play to overcome the mess - the insanitary conditions.

The church should use the pulpit to educate and create awareness among the congregation about the benefits of good environmental sanitation practices.

He indicated that the municipal assembly had made waste management, a major priority and would combine public education and enforcement of the law to bring a change.
