Odebrecht Ghana supports KNUST to organise fair

Accra, March 24, GNA - Odebrecht Ghana, a leading engineering and construction company with more than 70 years' experience, has supported the College of Engineering of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Technology's (KNUST) Annual Career Fair.

A statement issued by Odebrehct Ghana and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the Fair, which hosted a number of students, especially those pursing disciplines in engineering, took place at the KNUST College of Engineering Hall, in Kumasi.

Speaking at the Fair, Mr Marcus Vianna, the Finance and Administrative Manager of Odebrecht Ghana said: 'Odebrecht Ghana continues to invest in the human resource base of this country by supporting important educational activities like this one.

'Odebrecht Ghana has many career-building opportunities for students and they are in the form of internships and Young Partners programmes specially designed to help students gradually transform in professionals with technical competencies that match international standards,' he added.

The statement said Mr Vianna delivered a presentation that described major projects Odebrecht completed across the world and the impact they were making in the lives of millions of people and in the preservation of the environment.

Mr Danilo Trinchao, in charge of People and Finance at Odebrecht Ghana said: 'Odebrecht Ghana is focused on encouraging and motivating students, including females, to learn and overcome challenges, and to pursue careers in the engineering field, making them valuable addition to the national human resource base; and helping them to develop a professional career path with international standards.'

The Provost of the College of Engineering, Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah, in his remarks, thanked Odebrecht Ghana for the continued support to the College and the deliberate investment in enhancing the capacity of students of the University.

He called on other corporate organisations to emulate the company and requested that Odebrecht Ghana extends opportunities for on-the-field trainings for young lecturers of the College.

Participants were impressed at the magnitude of projects and scope of their successes.

Ransford Agyemang, one of the of excited university students who visited the Odebrecht Ghana Booth at the Fair manned by Vanessa Ashun and Vanessa Amaral Lobato, said: 'I am highly impressed by the magnitude of Odebrecht's successful projects across the world and the use of state-of-the-art technology.

'Odebrecht Ghana is a place I would like to work, because I am sure I will be trained and empowered to work with international standards.'

Odebrecht has presence in 21 countries, including Ghana.
