Mass education has reshaped the world - Vasudev

Accra, March 20, GNA - Mr Sadhguru Vasudev, the Founder Isha Foundation has said the age of mass education has reshaped the world, helping to raise billions of people out of poverty.

He said if education was ever going to reach all of the worlds children, the assumption was that it would have to be through mass education.

A statement issued in Accra by Varkey Foundation, organisers of the Global Education and Skills Forum 2017 in Dubai, said Mr Sadhguru was speaking at the opening of the event.

The forum, an initiative of the Varkey Foundation, brings together leaders from the public, private and social sectors to address the challenges of education, equity and employment for all.

Over the two days, more than 1,000 delegates at the forum shared, debated and shaped new ways for education to transform the world.

'Sometime in the future, we will probably look back and see that this mass education process is one of the most divisive things human beings have ever done,' he said.

He said education should be about helping children find lives full of expression and encourage their curiosity.

He said currently education systems did not take into account children's individual sensibilities and talents but train young people in a uniform or packaged way.

He said the purpose of this was to feed the needs of the global economy rather than teach young people to expand their horizons.
