Koforidua, April 20, GNA- The Eastern Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, the Reverend Alex Ofori Amankwah, has condemned suggestions by a section of the public for the legalisation of prostitution, saying it would not achieve much in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

"It is unfortunate that we want to look at the legalization of immorality in society in the fight against the pandemic. Let us not forget that the major avenue for infection is sex," he stated. Speaking during a media interaction in Koforidua on Tuesday, Rev. Amankwah noted that the national focus must be on how best the youth could shirk sexual promiscuity and also promote behavioural change among Ghanaians.

Rev. Amankwah said prostitution should not be condoned by society and called on all stakeholders to double their efforts on stressing the need for sexual morality.

He said economic empowerment was also necessary to woo the youth from material enticement that could let them fall prey to the pandemic.
