Forikrom community supports local electrification project

Forikrom (B/A), April 18, GNA - The people of Forikrom in the Techiman Municipality, have raised 20 million cedis at a fund-raising harvest in aid of an electrification project estimated to cost 150 million cedis.

They have so far expended 135 million cedis to erect 90 low-tension poles to facilitate the implementation of the project. The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Nana Kwadwo Seinti donated 25 poles worth 17.5 million cedis while the Municipal Assembly also provided 10 million cedis towards the project. Mr James Kwabena Osei, Assembly member for the area said the project was being funded through a special levy of 20,000 cedis per head.

He said over 100 houses had been wired awaiting connection to the national electricity grid. Nana Seinti commended the people for contributing towards the project and asked them to unite and contribute generously to the development of the area. He cautioned them to refrain from litigation and other acts likely to impede development and urged them to take active interest in their children's education since that was the legacy they could bequeath to them.

Nana Opoku Aboagye, Forikrom Krontihene called on non-resident citizens from the area to visit home and support all development efforts.
