Scrap dealer remanded for robbery

Accra, March 1, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded one Issah Yakubu, a scrap dealer into Police custody for allegedly robbing one Kwesi Anorkwa of his Galaxy X4 mobile phone worth GH¢340.

Issah pleaded not guilty to the charge and the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh adjourned case to March 15 for the commencement of trial.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that the complainant is a Trader, while the accused person is a scrap dealer both residents of Old Fadama.

He said on February 22, at about 2030 hours, the complainant was walking from Agbogbloshie towards Old Fadama, but on reaching a section of the road, Issah and three others now at large armed with cutlasses forcibly collected his Samsung Galaxy mobile phone from him.

Police Chief Inspector Adu said on February 23, at about 1600 hours the accused person was spotted around the same area and was arrested.

The prosecution told the court that, Issah denied the offence in his caution statement to the police.
