About 179 electricians, drawn from the Ashanti Region, have completed a three-month certified electrical professional training programme in Kumasi.

They went through domestic, commercial, industrial and inspectors training under the programme.

Mr. Solomon Sarpong, (Electrical Engineer/Energy Economist) Principal Programme Officer, of the Energy Commission, stated at the 7th graduation of certified electrical professionals that attended the training, that the Energy Commission would monitor the certified electricians in practicing the technical know-how acquired at the programme.

He revealed that the association is in the process of enforcing the law to ensure that those without the requisite certificate, but engage in house wiring, would be weeded out and dealt with according to law.

He said about only 30% of the 4,621 certified electricians have the testing instruments, while most of them hire theirs.
