Accra, April 14, GNA - The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has given all mechanics who are operating in unauthorized locations up to April 28, this year, to immediately cease operations or relocate to areas designated for such activities.

The locations include roads, in lanes, on parks or on residential plots without the assembly's consent.

A statement issued by the AMA said proprietors of such workshops who continue to operate in the unapproved locations after the stipulated deadline, would be prosecuted.

It said, "Vehicles found in such locations whether serviceable or not, would be towed into custody at predetermined locations. The defaulting owners would be surcharged with the transportation and handling costs incurred, whilst appropriate punitive measures are applied."

The statement further warned that strayed animals found loitering about after the stipulated time would be impounded and their owners prosecuted.

"Where the owners are not traced after 14 days, the animals shall be destroyed or otherwise disposed of, in accordance with the Assembly's Bye-Laws."

AMA said all directional signs in the city should have permits from its outfits.

The assembly called on religious organizations, film producers as well as individuals advertising social functions who pasted indiscriminately have up to April 28, this year to remove them or face prosecution.
