Kwabenya ACP Gets Police Station

A new police station has been opened to serve residents of Kwabenya ACP in Accra.

The police station constructed by Franco Estate at the cost of GH¢300,000, is to help reduce criminal activities in the area.

The ultra modern police facility has an office for the station officer, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office, general office and one cell each for male and female suspects.

The Director General in charge of services, COP Rose Bio Atinga who commissioned the new station in an address encouraged business partners especially real estate developers to consider joining the police fight crime within the communities they operate.

She said as population increases, general crime activities also surge and communities and police need to work together to curb crime rate in the country.

“Crimes like car snatching, burglary, land-guards activities and robbery used to be on the increase, but it reduced drastically when the station was still under construction.”

She commended Franco Estate for putting up the facility to help combat crime in the community and appealed to residents to consider putting up a residential accommodation to personnel who will be posted to the station for prompt responds.

Francis Kwesi Nyankson, Chief Executive Officer of Franco Estate Company in an address said, the facility, was provided to help the police fight crime in the area which use to be a haven for criminals.

“Before the construction of the police station at this site, there was a bush here which the criminals used as their hideout to terrorise residents and so after putting up the estate, I thought it prudent to provide a police station in the area to serve residents and to ensure their safety.”

Mr Nyankson assured the police administration that his management would reconsider putting up a residential accommodation for personnel to serve the community better.

The District Police Commander of Kwabenya ACP, Superintendent of Police, Bright Boafo, said the opening of the police station in the A.C.P community has helped reduce crime in the area.

He said common crimes reported at the newly opened A.C.P police station were break-in of houses, stealing, assaults, land disputes and robbery.

He expressed gratitude to management of the Estate for the facility, but appealed to residents to assist the police with patrol vehicle and accommodation for duty officers that will be posted to the community.

Present at the ceremony from the police services were DCOP Sika Nartey from Head Quarters, ACP Paul Ayitey, deputy Accra Regional Police Commander and Chief Superintendent Natongma Aggrey Yakubu, Madina Divisional Police Commander, among others.
