Stop Attacking Single Mothers - Modern Women Of Wisdom

A disgusting write up circulating on social media aimed at attacking Single mothers has come to the notice of Modern Women of Wisdom Organization.

Such savagery remarks and write-ups induce women to a feeling of apprehension and must not be entertained in an Independent country like ours.

As an advocacy group that seeks to bring out the best in women and children ,we see the plight of single mothers as a dark spot and it bothers us immensely.

The predominant reason for the increase of single mothers is not a “decline in morality" as been spearheaded by this author and his likes.

The dissolution of extended families, minimized religious pressure and economic factors all play major roles in the increase.

Rural- urban migration is one major cause of single parenting . Urbanization allows a life focused on the fulfillment of personal aspirations rather than commitment to other people.

Most men now concentrate on personal causes and urges rather than seeking the welfare of others including their own children.

The fertile hunting grounds of big towns have brought numerous freedom to men. Urbanization indirectly makes it easier for men to remain single and independent. Most men can now propose to women at different locations in our big cities without the women knowing they are dating or married to the same man.

Some men even go to the extent of renting people to act as their kinsmen at marriage ceremonies at the blind side of innocent women.

Finally, when these women get to know the truth and they quit with their children society gives them a tag called "Born one".

Single mothers have hobbly stories to tell. Nobody grows with the aim of becoming a single mother.

Now, our big cities have removed the constraints we experience in rural lives.

We now choose a mate not from our little village but from an effectively global mating piscina.

The selection is available in all big cities, and the menu is huge; in comparison, marital commitment seems like eating at the same restaurant that provides continental dishes on daily basis.

The author did not miss an opportunity to disparage children who are been taking care of by single mothers by referring to them as "bastards" and "funny looking kids".

Truth be told, single mothers did not get pregnant by drinking water.We are yet to see two women impregnating each other.

They were obviously impregnated by men and they chose the noble path by refusing to commit abortion.

They could have decided to terminate the destinies of their unborn babies by aborting them ,then after, apply makeup , join the congregation ,sing Hallelujah on Sundays and pretend to be holier than thou!

Yet, these are honest and noble women, who chose to face rejection, stigmatization and disappointment and saved lives.

The fact that others had sex but they didn't get pregnant or the fact that others chose to commit abortions when they got pregnant does not make them higher humans than single mothers.

Single mothers usually sacrifice their financial and social independence for their children's existence.

Many high profile people of our generation were raised by single mothers.

The author and his likes should not drive Single mothers into mental exiles with their outmoded thoughts as single mothers have faced silent crisis enough!

Single mothers battle an overwhelming emotional stress of covering both expenses and care taking responsibilities.

If the author and his likes cannot support single mothers emotionally, they shouldn't worsen their woes.

Society should strive to support single mothers with its protective net instead of encouraging marriage as a pathway out of poverty.

We therefore call on the Government and stakeholders to implement social policies that will help single mothers by ensuring equal pay for both sexes and maintaining women jobs when they are on maternity leave.

We urge all single mothers not to vent their spleen on their children by blaming them for their woes at the least provocation.

They should rather draw them closer and inspire the fear of the Lord in them as God alone understands the plight of single mothers better.

And to those young girls out there who are yet to taste the forbidden fruit, stay glued to your books, study hard and become better versions of yourselves.
