On February 18, 2017, Kwame Boakye Danquah (Toziah Kbd) and friends launched the Ghana Advocacy Group - Gag, in Virginia, USA. GAG is a think tank with the objective of conducting research and advocacy on issues in Ghana relating to socio-economic, socio-political policy, health, technology, and cultural understanding.

Its essence is to give a voice to collaborate and help build Ghana by joining forces with Ghanaian expertise from all over the globe. Find out more about their initiatives at GhanaAdvocacy.org

Innaugaural Speech!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished invited guests, members of Ghana Advocacy Group (GAG), all protocol observed. I t is a great honour to have you all here at the historic launch of this resourceful organization GAG. I am so delighted to have in our midst great speakers from diverse disciplines who I have no doubt in mind would bring their influence to bear on our group.

I also believe their presence here tonight and going forward would help push the organization to a pedestal level

The Chinese have a famous proverb or saying: ‘A thousand miles journey begins with a step. Today, we are embarking on that improbable journey. And we are making that first step in the hope and with conviction that we will get to where we have envisioned.

I think that whatever good thing that is conceived must be birthed. It must bear fruit for the benefit of the critical mass regardless of their geographical location. Ladies and Gentlemen it is interesting to note that our brothers and sisters from Nigeria, Cameroon, and the Ivory Coast to mention but a few, resident here in the states, have advocacy groups that speak on behalf of the peoples from this part of our region.

Ironically, we (Ghanaians here in the US) don’t have a common voice. We don’t have a mouthpiece or a group that serve that purpose. It is against this backdrop that the idea to form an advocacy was born. It was born out of necessity and the quest to help our people both home and abroad.

And I am so glad that I had like-minded people to help make this conceived dream a reality. I’m glad to see us launch GAG a think group which performs research and advocacy concerning issues such as social policy, politics, economics, health, technology, culture and many more in our homeland Ghana.

Abraham Lincoln once said: You got to know where you come from in order to know what to do next.” Our ability to collaborate and help Ghana is the key. And together as a group we have resolved to stand united and advocate on behalf of our people. I believe we cannot afford to wait any longer and we will wait further. In short, silence no more. So let’s speak now.

Let’s close our ranks, let’s bring our strengths together let’s pool our resources and let’s start the forward march as we lunch GAG now.

Long Live AGA
God bless us All
