Hon. Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Akuffo Attends H4P’s 6th Anniversary Launch

The Minister for Communication and MP for Ablekuma- West Constituency, Hon. Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Akuffo, on 14th February 2017, attended the launch of H4P Organization’s 6th Anniversary Celebration at the New Horizon Special School dubbed ‘the Celebration of Love’.

In her speech, Hon. Owusu-Akuffo congratulated the CEO of the H4P Organization for his fervent passion and relentless service to the disability community throughout the years of H4P’s operations. Hon. Owusu-Akuffo also attested to the phenomenal impact H4P’s projects; H4P National Inter-Schools Disability Fun Games, Helping Hand TV Show, amongst others have made in promoting the inclusion of persons with disability in our society. She further applauded the H4P Organization, for reaching out to over 1,000 beneficiaries through their community outreach projects including sponsorships for the various needs of persons with disabilities, Christmas Parties for children with disability amongst other philanthropic activities.

The Minister affirmed the current administration’s pledge to enforce existing legal frameworks to protect persons with disability in Ghana.

The Launch of the H4P Organization’s 6th Anniversary Celebration was dedicated to honor Mrs. Salome Francois, Founder of New Horizon Special School for forty-five (45) yearsof dedicated service to ensure that children with intellectual disability in Ghana have access to education rather than a life spent, hidden at home. Mrs. Francois at H4P’s 6th Anniversary launch was presented with the “H4P Lifetime Award” by the CEO of the H4P Organization.

The launch was marked with an array of music, poetry and dance performances by students from Cape Coast School for the Blind and Deaf,Akropong School for the Blind, Dr. Seth TettehOcloo School for the Deaf, Kibi School for the Deaf, New Horizon Special School etc. It was indeed an awe-inspiring moment watching hearing impaired students put up spectacular cultural dance performances. The launch of H4P’s 6th Anniversary which also coincided with St. Valentine’s Day celebration was used to organize a Valentine’s Day Party for the disability community present at the event.

The H4P Organization, a disability advocacy oriented non-governmental organization (NGO),started its operations in Accra in 2011, by launching their first project; a Nationwide Anti-Malaria Campaign subsequently their Special Advocacy for Persons with Disability.Today, H4P prides herself on bringing dignity to disability and becoming the “Voice of the Disability Community in Ghana”.

The H4P 6th Anniversary launch was an opportunity for ability in spite of disability to be exhibited.
