As part of efforts to create opportunities for Ghanaian small, medium and large scale enterprises, the Afro-Arab Travel and Tours Limited, a subsidiary of Afro-Arab Group of companies, in partnership with Turkish firm Joudy Group International are sending local firms to partake in trade fairs in Istanbul and other Turkish cities at highly subsidized prices.

The series of trade fairs, which are scheduled to run from March to July this year is under the theme “strengthening the public/private partnership for economic development of Ghana”.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra to officially unveil the trade fairs to local businesses, a consultant to the Afro-Arab Group, Mr. Abdallah Musah Alhassan, revealed that a partnership agreement that has been signed between his outfit and Joudy Group International is what is making it possible to send business delegations from Ghana to Turkey.

He further disclosed that the government of Turkey has absorbed the greater part of the cost and as such business persons who are taking part in the fair do not have to worry about incurring huge expenditure.

He said countries such as Egypt have also organised trade exhibitions at no cost to participants as a measure to attract investors from all over the world to set up businesses in that country.

“We are also calling on the government of Ghana to set up this creative form of attracting investors by organizing such forms of trade fairs at highly subsidized cost to attract international businesses to partner local SMEs”.

Mr. Musah Alhassan believes that nations cannot develop fully without a strong collaboration between government and individual enterprises, with each party playing the necessary role it has to play to ensure harmony and the smooth operations of businesses.

“In this regard the Afro-Arab Group believes that the government has to take the necessary steps in order to create the enabling environment that the government has promised Ghanaians so that businesses can operate competitively” he appealed.

The Chairman of the Afro-Arab Group, Alhaji Salamu Adamu, in an interview with reporters said the trade fair in Turkey is an appropriate platform for Ghanaian businesses to meet and interact with their counterparts from other parts of the worlds.

He said the changing trend of business has made it imperative for local firms to seek for opportunities beyound their comfort zone to make them competitive in the global arena.

“The new international environment provides for SMEs from developing countries to access a global pool of new technologies, skills, capital and markets to ensure faster exports and profits” he said.
