Bibiani (W/R), April 12, GNA - The Bibiani District Magistrate's Court presided over by Mr D.A. Darketsey has remanded Kwaku Abayie into prison custody for allegedly murdering Kofi Ofori alias 'Home News' at Sefwi-Affulkrom in the Western Region.

His plea was not taken and would re-appear on June 30. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Antwi-Gyawu, Bibiani District Police Commander, told the Court that Abayie, who had planned to kill Home News failed in his attempts on several occasions because he had always been in the company of others.

DSP Antwi-Gyawu said on March 30, this year at about 0530 hours Abayie, who had laid ambush behind Ofori's house shot him at close range when he was attending to nature's call and died instantly. DSP Antwi-Gyawu said Abayie confessed to the Police during preliminary investigations that he had entered into a bet with Ofori that he would kill him at the least opportunity.

Meanwhile, Kofi Adama, an Elder son of the deceased who organised his brothers to demolish a house belonging to the accused had also been remanded in prison custody to re-appear on May 27.
