The Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Fanteakwa (CADCOF) in collaboration with Eastern Regional Narcotics Control Board has today met the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) embarked on an education for drivers and drinking spot operators in Begoro in the Fanteakwa District of Eastern Region.

According to the chairman of the said coalition, Mr. Samuel Darfour, most drivers are under the influence of alcohol, Indian hemp (Wee), 'Asra' and other hard drugs that could have adverse effects on their operations to drive passengers home safely.

"The coalition saw how keen it is to educate the executives of the GPRTU including the drivers themselves so that they can desist from such acts," he said.

He warned alcohol operators to desist from missing alcohol with 'wee' since it is illegal.

The Acting Eastern Regional Narcotics Control Board Director, Emmanuel Nunoo on his part also advised drivers to be vigilant on luggage’s they carry from passengers so that they won't be carrying any drug abusive substance.

Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Fanteakwa (CADCOF) was built on 24th September, 2015 with the sole aim of making Fanteakwa 'Drug Free' district since alcohol sales points, India Hemp (Wee) smocking and inappropriate use of agro chemical etc. is in the increase in the fanteakwa district.
