Court remands plumber for stealing car tape

Ho, April 6, GNA - Evans Dzathor, 18, a plumber was on Wednesday remanded by the Ho Circuit Court for allegedly stealing a car tape and a gas cylinder valued at 1.1 million cedis from the SNNIT flats in Ho. He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on April 20, this year.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Appiah Kubi told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Siame that on April 5, this year, at about 0400 hours, Dzathor together with two others broke into some cars at the parking lot of the SSNIT Flats and allegedly stole the items. He said the alarm system in one of the cars was activated, while the suspects were in the process of breaking into it, this drew the attention of some residents.

Chief Inspector Kubi said the accused with then two others, who are at large, took to their heels but Dzathor was apprehended and handed over to the police.

He said residents later detected that a Hyundai saloon car, belonging to Mr Sammy Veddi, Volta Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) was broken into and the car tape stolen.

Chief Inspector Kubi said Mr Frank Yawson, a Customs Officer also had his car tampered with.

He said the gas cylinder belonging Miss Loveland Dodoh was later found in a nearby bush, where Dzathor was arrested.
