Write Less, Shout Less, You Are Not The Only One With Opinions On Ghana
14.01.2017 LISTEN

It is not in my nature to rebut destructive criticisms or comments passed on my published views by public readers with full publication(s). However, I find a brief critique by one public reader going by the pseudonym “Koo” on my recent publication titled, “Shame that Ghana abounds in fair weather friends”, worthy of a fully-published rebuttal.

This said article was published on Ghanaweb under their Feature Article of Thursday, 12 January 2017 and found under the web link below.

According to the said “Koo”, Rockson Adofo writes a lot, makes a lot of noise, shouts a lot and that he is not the only one who has opinions on Ghana hence nobody is interested in his publications any longer. Nobody listens to him. He had better write less, shout less and cease thinking he is the only intelligent person in Ghana, he seemed to tell.

If he had sought to advise, or make a suggestion to, me, I would not be offended but by destructively, not rather constructively, criticising me, I feel obliged to write to educate him with the sole aim of extricating him from the ignorance in which he is probably deeply embedded.

To start with, let it be known to him and the likes of him that I do not submit to, or adhere to, that Ghanaian mentality of, or belief in, “the whirlwind will eventually settle down no matter how frighteningly it begins” (“Ehuru a ebedwo”). This erroneous philosophical thinking by many a Ghanaian makes them think that they can always commit heinous or petty crimes with impunity. They will always say to themselves, let people talk about it and they can only do so for a few days and then forget completely about it.

Yes, that is the undeniable, but regrettably, the shameful attitude of most Ghanaians. This is why our leaders and certain well-placed people in the Ghanaian society always insult our intelligence by practicing overt corruption, selective justice, abuse their powers and positions all with impunity. Could it not be for the same reason why former President Mahama said Ghanaians have a short memory? This is because when something happens, people will get agitated, talk about it but only for a while, brush it under the carpet or forget about it completely afterwards.

When we have such a deplorable attitude, opportunists in power will always take us for fools and will continually abuse our human rights with glee.

However, with Rockson who believes in not letting intentional crimes committed die away without getting positive results, or faults spotted not getting rectified, he will use his intelligence, wisdom and power of pen or computer to persevere until the results that are best in the interest of Ghanaians are obtained.

If I discuss a topic once without revisiting it, no matter how important it is, the desired result or the attention being sought will never be accorded going by that unfortunate “Ehuru a ebedwo” attitude of the Ghanaian.

Let it be known to “Koo” that opinions are like noses, each person has one. Some noses are fat, thin, flat, pointed, beautiful or ugly. Nonetheless, they fit the face of whoever has it and the person likes it. This is so with opinions. You can agree to disagree with me. It is as simple as that!

Again, I have to ensure that a problem I spotted recently on arrival at Accra Kotoka International Airport when I went to Ghana to assist with the campaign to elect Nana Akufo Addo and NPP to power is resolved. I have so far published two articles about it. I have more to write before the problem gets resolved and I shall do exactly that. I shall write to get a company or some people to evaluate the project or more precisely, the cost, and then appeal for funds from “burgers” or philanthropists or write to the Minister for Aviation to get that sorted. This is because I find it unbefitting of our airport as regards how arriving and departing air passengers are treated. You, “Koo”, may not see the need for it but I do.

The two publications so far put out on Ghanaweb and Modernghana about the problem at the airport may not yield the desired results hence the need to write more. This is just what disgusts “Koo” but who cares?

The was, and is still, an ongoing maltreatment of some workers at the Tema Development Corporation by their Managing Director for the fact of the perceived workers being NPP members or sympathisers. I have to make sure that problem is uprooted. It will take me about eight more publications to rid the corporation of that tormenting problem.

There are chieftaincy cases where some “supposed” Overlords are acting in contravention of known conventions and statutes thinking we are still living in the yesteryears absolute monarch. This is wrong. I shall keep writing until I get justice done to the victims.

As Rome was not built in a day, so do I know it will take me more time and more publications to get certain problems resolved, taking that deplorable “Ehuru a ebedwo” Ghanaian attitude into account.

If Hon. Kennedy Agyepong, Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi and Brother Martin Amidu had not, and continue to persist doing what they believe to be the truth, we would today probably not have Nana Akufo Addo and NPP in power, or swindler Alfred Agbesi Woyome now shitting himself with the likelihood of paying back the GHC51.2 million he duped Ghana with incarceration staring him in the face.

It is all about perseverance in doing what you believe in. “Koo” may not be happy with me for reasons best known to him; it is his cup of tea. Many Ghanaians do like me and do advise me to write the facts without being emotional which I am now trying hard to abide by. Such constructive critics do help more than the destructive criticisms by the likes of “Koo”.
