Techiman (B/A) Mar. 31 GNA - Techiman Municipal Office of Births and Deaths Registry recorded a total of 600 births between January and February this year.
Mr. Claudry Daudu Imoro, Municipal Director of the Registry told Ghana News Agency in an interview that 18 deaths were recorded during the period, with 13 of them being males and five females. He said 348 males and 252 females were delivered within the period.
The municipal director noted with regret that many people were ignorant about birth registration and advised parents to acquire birth certificates for their children.
Mr. Imoro said the department was faced with the problem of double registration of children and cases of double paternity but said it was collaborating with Environmental Health Staff and Unit Committees to eliminate it.
He appealed to the general public to co-operate with the department to ensure that proper certificates of births and deaths were issued to them.
