JAN 12, 2017 LISTEN
Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

The president, chief and people of the Association of Northern Ghanaians in Georgia wishes congratulate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, His Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. We as northern Ghanaians living in the United States of America are profoundly delighted to see another son of the northern descent rise to the second highest office of our homeland Ghana. It is indeed gratifying to also hear of the nominations of Hajia Alima Mahama as Local Government Minister, Ambrose Dery as Interior Minister, Dominic Nitiwul as Defence Minister, and Clara Napaga Tia Sulemana as a Presidential Staffer who are yet to be vetted and confirmed.

As a result, we want to commend His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Ado, the 5th President of the 4th Republic of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for believing in these men and women and we pray to the good lord to grant each and every one of them the wisdom, knowledge and strength to perform their duties creditably, not only to vindicate the confidence the president has reposed in them, but to make all northerners living at home and abroad proud. Nonetheless, this call to duty is to serve mother Ghana and not be served, to unite and not divide, and to inspire and stimulate the sense of social responsibility in all Ghanaians.

Finally, we congratulate all Ghanaians for yet another peaceful elections and a smooth transfer of power from one political party to another. By every measure and account, Ghana’s full-fledged democracy has gained credence internationally and we will continue to stand tall among other African countries in the sub-region. Our Association wishes the Nana administration the very best of luck and we are confident that the Ghanaian people will be rewarded with good policies that will improve their living standards and general livelihood.

LONG LIVE THE NORTH!!! LONG LIVE GHANA!!!
Shani Mohammed
General Secretary
Association of Northern Ghanaians in Georgia
