Bodomase (Ash), March 31, GNA - Fire on Easter Sunday razed to the ground a house at Bodomase, near Kumawu in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti, destroying property worth millions of cedis. The eight occupants of the house, however, escape unhurt. The cause of the fire was unknown and it took neighbours in the town several hours to put it out.
Madam Ama Achiaa, 60, a victim, told the GNA that she was awoken in her sleep only to detect that a thick smoke had engulfed the house. She immediately raised an alarm and all the occupants including children immediately came out.
That attracted people in the neighbourhood, who did everything possible to bring it under control. "We however, lost all our belongings to the fire".
The victims appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), religious organisations and philanthropists to come to their aid.
Meanwhile, Mr Kofi Atta Brobbey, assemblyman for the area, has visited the victims to console them.
