Tema, March 27, GNA - A dead body floating on the water near the burnt MV Polaris, the Greek registered vessel was retrieved on Sunday at PSC Tema Ship Yard at Tema and dispatched to the 37 Military Hospital. It was alleged that he jumped into the water from the vessel on the onset of the fire, apparently to swim to safety.
It brings to 14, the number of bodies so far recovered, the other thirteen were however, charred beyond recognition
Efforts are still underway by Firemen to pump water and debris from the vessel in the attempt to recover bodies that may have been trapped under it.
Families who still cannot trace their relatives who work on the vessel were seen at the disaster scene with the hope of getting them alive or dead.
One of them, Mr Kofi Netsi told the GNA in tears that his son Eric Netsi, a 22-year-old welder was among those working on the vessel when the disaster occurred.
Meanwhile, security personnel are guarding the area, which is very quiet.
