Asamankese, March 23, GNA- The Asamankese Circuit Court has granted Harrison Awuku Mensah, a 45-year-old Cocoa Purchasing Clerk a 30 million- cedi bail on two counts of stealing dried cocoa beans and three counts of defrauding by false pretences.

He pleaded not guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Alhassan Amadu told the Court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that the complainants are farmers at Mfranta where Mensah was a Purchasing Clerk with the Ollam Company.

He said in December, last year, Mensah approached three of the complainants and collected a total of 150 kilogrammes of dried beans valued at 1.3 million cedis. Chief Inspector Amadu said Mensah also defrauded Mr Thomas Kwame Amankwaah of 220,000 cedis and 315,000 cedis from Madam Ama Nyakoa with the promise of supplying them with dried cocoa beans. Mr Mensah went into hiding and all attempts to get him to fulfil his promise failed.
