Parents and caregivers of children with disability have a duty to give their wards the best of care and to equip them with the requisite skills to help them grow up to become successful adults with disability.

The emotional, psychological and physical state of a parent or caregiver impacts on the development of the child with disability either positively or negatively. Giving care to caregivers therefore plays a crucial role in determining the future of a child with disability.

In this week’s (Sunday, 18th December 2016 and the repeat on Wednesday, 21stDecember 2016, at 5pm and 2pm respectively) episode of the Helping Hand TV Show, the Voice of Ability on Air for Persons with Disability, Apostle Charles Hackman continues his discussion with Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson (Founder, Counselor and Mediator at the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Centre) on “Giving Care to Caregivers”.

Issues to be discussed include how to handle some challenges faced by parents of children with disability to ensure successful parenting.

About the Helping Hand TV Show
The Helping Hand TV Show is a media advocacy project initiated by the Here for Perfection (H4P) Organization; a non-governmental organization with the passion to promote the wellbeing of persons with disability in Ghana. This project is aimed at giving voice to the disability community through the media. It also serves as a means of advocating for the implementation of structures and policies to promote the full participation of persons with disability in national development.

The Helping Hand TV Show, has contributed significantly to the improvement of the state of disability issues in Ghana and keeping this TV Show on air would help bridge the wide gap that exist between the abled and disabled in our society. Through H4P’s media advocacy project, some Government bodies are now paying more attention to issues about disability and making some changes to favor persons with disability in Ghana.

The H4P Organization is therefore appealing to all individuals and corporate institutions to support the Helping Hand Project with their donations. Interested persons can contact the H4P Organization on 020 8686777 or 0249 480622 or send their donations to the H4P Project Fund; Account Name: H4P Project Fund, Fidelity Bank Gh. Ltd., Ridge Towers Branch, to account number: 2090030870816 or through Vodafone Cash or MTN Mobile Money to 020 8686777 or 0249 480622 respectively.

Your donations can make a difference in the lives of persons with disability because it would help the H4P Organization to continue to give voice to the voiceless in our society in the media, thereby bringing dignity to disability.
