Sekondi, March 21, GNA - A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court on Monday convicted Egya Mensah, a 20-year-old auto electrician for being on the premises of the complainant, Mr Kwesi Annan, a fish farmer at Effiakuma number one, a suburb of Takoradi for unlawful purposes and causing unlawful damage.

The court, however, remanded the accused into prison custody to re-appear on April 4 this year for sentence.

Mensah pleaded guilty to both charges.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Andam Okyere said at about 7.15 A.M. on March 20 this year, the accused who lived at Kojokrom near Sekondi hid himself in a bush near the home of Kwesi Annan.

He said the accused monitored the movement of Annan who left home for his fish farm at the Paper Conversion Company (PCC) area near Sekondi at about 7.30 A.M.

Sergeant Okyere said the accused damaged a burglar proof valued at 350,000 cedis fitted on one of the windows of the house in his attempt to break in.

He said Annan appeared on the scene and chased the accused into the nearby bush and arrested him with the assistance of some neighbours. Sergeant Okyere said the accused was handed over to the Police and during a search two screwdrivers, a set of pliers and a bunch of keys were found in his pocket.

He said during interrogation, the accused admitted the offence and said he had wanted to drill a hole through the window and get into the house to steal.
