Agona Swedru (N/R), Dec. 6, GNA - Dr Ekow Spio -Garbrah, Minister of Trade and Industry, has called on the chiefs and the people of Zab Zongo in the Agona West Constituency to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the coming polls.

He said the NDC led by John Mahama has done exceedingly well in improving the roads, health infrastructure, education and agriculture to raise the living standards of Ghanaians.

Dr Spio-Garbrah said this when he called on Chief Imam Ali Moro and his elders at Agona Swedru Zab Zongo as part of his campaign tour to solicit votes for NDC in the Central Region.

The Minister said government under President Mahama has rebranded rural enterprise programmes under the Business Advisory Center to create an enabling environment for women to improve their small and medium scale businesses.

He said the NDC government has made life better for Ghanaians and asked them to retain the party to continue its good work.

Chief Imam Moro expressed appreciation to government for changing their damaged electricity wires and brought them a new transformer after the 2010 flood disaster.

He said when the disaster occurred in 2010, the Islamic School was destroyed and pleaded to the government to help fund the construction of school block.

Chief Imam Moro appealed to government to construct storm drains at Zab Zongo to help prevent disasters in the community.

Mr Charles Obeng -Inkoom, a member of the delegation, said Zongo communities in Ghana are the backbone of the National Democratic Congress as they have helped to improve their lot.

He assured the chiefs and the people of Zab Zongo of the assembly's effort to build an Islamic school for them.

Mr Obeng Inkoom and Dr Spio - Garbrah donated 50 bags of cement to the chiefs and an unspecified amount of money towards the building of Islamic School.
