Multi-Purpose Commercial Centre For Mamfe

Chief of Mamfe Akuapem in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku, has cut the sod for the construction of a multi-purpose commercial centre to serve the Akuapem area.

The sod cutting ceremony was graced by chiefs and people of Mamfe Akuapem who are particularly happy with the project which would provide jobs for the teeming youth in the area.

Osabarima Ansah Sasraku, who is also the Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, said the multi-purpose commercial centre is a partnership between the traditional council and some private organisations on a ‘Built Operate and Transfer’ model.

He said as traditional leaders, they were concerned about the high unemployment rate in the area and therefore went into this partnership to help create jobs for the youth in the area.

The multi-purpose commercial centre is strategically located in the center of the town near the town’s Post Office where some residents in the adjourning area have been relocated to pave way for the project.

Eight bedroom house has been constructed for those who are going to be relocated.

The Mamfe chief said 10 percent returns from the business would be given back to the community for development.
