Kasoa Police grabs alleged notorious robber

Agona Swedru, March 18, GNA - The Kasoa Police in the Central Region have arrested an alleged notorious armed robber, a member of a gang said to be operating at Nima and Madina areas in Accra.

Ibrahim Mohammed, Alias Sumila and Babylon, a 23-year-old motorbike mechanic was arrested at the Kasoa Police Charge Office when he went there to give food to his girl friend, Agnes Antwi (alias Nana Yaa) in custody in connection with an alleged threat case.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Thomas Osei, Agona Swedru Divisional Police Commander who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Swedru on Thursday, said on March 12, 2005, Ibrahim, who is native of Bawku in the Upper West Region was pointed out to the Policemen on duty at the Charge Office by a suspect in custody.

He said the Police quickly arrested him, adding that, Ibrahim confessed when interrogated that he had been engaged in many robberies in Accra.

ACP Osei told the GNA that Ibrahim had been transferred to the Accra Police to handle the case.

He stated that Divisional Police Command has intensified day and night patrols in the area and appealed to the public to pass on information on suspected criminals swiftly to enable the Police to apprehend them.

ACP Osei assured the public that informants would be protected and their identities kept secret.
