Nkoranza organises HIV/AIDS campaign

Nkoranza, March 17, GNA - Mr Solomon Obeng-Danquah, Nkoranza District HIV/AIDS focal person, has urged parents not to disown or discriminate against their children and family members living with HIV/AIDS.

Mr Obeng-Danquah was addressing over 100 assembly members, traditional rulers, teachers and religious leaders at a meeting at Nkoranza.

He expressed concern about how the disease was fast spreading and called on community leaders to join in the campaign against its spread. Mr Obeng-Danquah commended a group of people from Nkoranza, Techiman and some parts of Ashanti Region who are HIV/AIDS and formed an Association called the "Hope Association" to educate people on the disease.

A number of Community Based Organizations (CBOS) have also been formed in the communities to organise house-to-house campaigns, in the churches and in the schools to sensitise the people about the disease.
