Two NPP boys arrested whiles jogging at the flagstaff house

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is detaining two members of New Patriotic Party (NPP) for jogging near the Flagstaff House in Accra.

The incident happened last Sunday at about 8am, New Patriotic Party (NPP) member John Kumah, told myjoyonline.com, after he had been granted access to the two on Tuesday.

He said those involved were Jalil Bawa, a former police officer, who is believed to be among the security detail of the NPP presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo and one other supporter, Alhassan Abubakar, who is in his late 20s.

The two, who live at Nima, a community close to the Flagstaff House, were jogging when Abubakar’s keys reportedly dropped into the sand.

They reportedly stopped to collect the keys and continued the exercise.

But about 50 meters away, according to Mr John Kumah, two security officials, accosted them and accused them of planting something in the ground.

Despite their explanations, the security officials walked them back to the spot where the keys fell and asked that they dig around the area to be sure they had not planted ‘Juju’ there.

“There was nothing there,” John Kumah explained.

He said one of the security officers identified Bawa as a former police officer who left the Service and joined the NPP security team.

The new fact completely changed the dynamics of the investigations.

Several security officers poured out of the Flagstaff House and the two were led inside.

They were later taken to BNI cells.
Their families had been searching for them until checks revealed they had been picked up.

No charges have been leveled yet and according to John Kumah, the two could not be granted bail until their ‘busy’ superiors are available for office work.
