New Edubiase hospital records more HIV cases

New Edubiase (Ash), March 4, GNA-The New Edubiase Government Hospital recorded 61 new HIV/AIDS cases in 2004. The figure represents 12 per cent increase of the 2003 recorded cases which was 50.

Mr David Kwasi Amankwaa, Adansi South District Director of Health Services, disclosed this at an annual health review meeting at New Edubiase.

He advised the people in the area to change their sexual behaviour in order to reduce the spread of the infection.

Mr Amankwaa also charged Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) involved in the HIV/AIDS education campaign to focus their activities on behavioural change to enable the people refrain from illicit sex. Mr Joseph Bonney of the Ashanti regional health administration, asked health workers in the country to let the plight of patients be their primary concern and give them the needed attention.
