Choir gives in support of upkeep of prisoners

Nsawam (E/R), Oct 27, GNA - The Nsawam Medium Security Prisons has been presented with assorted items in support of the upkeep of the inmates.

These included three bags of gari, a bag each of rice and sugar, large quantity of toilet roll and boxes of soap.

They were a donation from the Great Choir of the Eastern Presbytery of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana.

Mr. Felix Adadzi, its President, said it was their contribution towards helping to make things a bit better for the prisoners.

He said as Christians they were enjoined by their faith to show love, care and affection for the needy and the suffering.

The Reverend Kwame Nya-la, Kade District Minister of the Church, spoke of the need to do more to help reform and integrate the prisoners into society after serving out their sentence.

Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP) Courage Astem, Public Relations Officer of the Prisons, thanked the choir for the gift and appealed for increased public support.
