Accra, Oct. 19, GNA - The 25th Session of the Joint Campaign Planning Course (JCP) has been held at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra.

A press release from the French Embassy in Accra copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the course was organised and sponsored by the Government of France, and was attended by 22 participants comprising Army officers and Gendarmerie from the rank of Major to Colonel drawn from West Africa, Central Africa and Madagascar.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr François Pujolas, the Ambassador of France to Ghana, said the course 'shows the commitment of France to help build a better and common response at the regional level to all security challenges'.

He lauded the joint participation of officers from countries in the sub-region and beyond, and commended the efforts made by the KAIPTC and the Ghana Armed Forces to support and develop the use of French language in a Defence and Security context.

The course which was designed in two phases mainly focused on the practical methods of operative planning, a procedure which encompasses preparation for a joint operation at country level, the release stated.

The course Director and liaison officer, Lieutenant Colonel Philippe Costes of the French Armed Forces, indicated that the objective of the programme was to encourage the use of a common language in order to facilitate planning between different armies engaged in a regional crisis.

The Ambassador later presented certificates to the students in the presence of Air Vice Marshall G.S. Evans, Commandant of KAIPTC.
