Committee to probe threat on the lives of teachers

Atwima-Asamang (Ash), Feb 25, GNA-The Atwima District Education Directorate, has set up a seven-member committee to investigate the persistent threats on the lives of teachers at Asuofua-Asamang, which had compelled a number of them to vacate their post.

The committee, which is under the chairmanship of Nana Agyem Ababio, Asamanghene (Chief of Asamang), would also investigate among other things, the persistent defecation on the premises of the local school and attempts by some unidentified people to burn down the school, which resulted in the destruction of teaching and learning materials worth over five million cedis.

Mr Richard Owusu-Agyemang, an Assistant Director of Education in charge of Public Relations who inaugurated the committee called for peaceful co-existence between the school and the community to facilitate effective teaching and learning.

He asked the members to be impartial and transparent in their approach to duty.

Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education in charge of Human Resource Management and Development, advised the teachers to return to the classroom in the interest of the pupils and tasked members of the community to ensure their security. 25 Feb. 05
