Revenue Officers Exposed!! Account Department Squander Over GH¢ 708,000.00 At Pantang Psychiatric Hospital

News unveiled on Adom Fm on the 11th of October,2016 disclosed that there has been cases of gross financial embezzlement by the account department of Pantang Psychiatric Hospital based in Accra.

Captain Smart,the radio and tv host of "Fabewoso" show on Adom FM exposed that, one Mrs Harriet Abena Konadu Yiadom and Mr Anthony Akorli who happen to be the hospital's revenue account officers were involved in issuing illegal GCR's which were not part of the stock collected from the Controller and Accounting General Department . The above mentioned illegal receipts were used in collecting revenue belonging to the hospital from the year 2010 to 2011.

Diving further into the fraudulent issue, it was revealed that seven different illegal receipt booklets were issued among a few genuine ones.

In all, 700 leaflets were illicitly used to steal an unstipulated amount of money from the VIP ward and Rehabilitation Centre at the hospital which has not reflected in any of the hospital's account books. Thirty three (33) of the leaflets were found as the period of auditing. Nevertheless, the remaining 667 were burnt by the victims involved in the deal to prevent being traced.

However ,auditors who took part in the investigation extrapolated that, revenue of money plundered by the officers were a handsome amount of over GH¢ 708,000.00 for only the 33 leaflets issued and found used by the cashiers just within 5 months,talk less of the remaining 667 burnt leaflets amounting to over multiple billions of dollars.

Mrs Harriet Konadu Yiadom who is experienced and assuming a paramount role in such a felonious act admitted she was a culprit when interrogated but however divulged that, she was introduced to the act by the former cashier of the hospital Mr John Acquah who handed over to her eight(8) approved Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service controller and accounting general GCR from outside to illegally steal money from the hospital which was equally shared among the two and one Miss Liss Basobuo Yare, a cashier in charge of the banking unit until Mr John Acquah was transferred from the hospital in 2009.

She(Abena Konadu Yiadom) added that she received a take home salary of GHC 7000 every week when they realised the hospital was going bankrupt while Miss Liss enjoyed GHC 4000 or GHC 2000 out of the deal. She exposed that ,the cashier Miss Liss participated fully in the deal and sometimes wrote some of the illegal receipts when the young lady intended to deny not be part of the act.

Mr Anthony Akorli who has now been transferred to the Mamprobi Polyclinic as accountant also admitted he played a role in the fraudulent act but stated: " I came and met it so I had no option than to continue" when he was asked. Meaning, the act has been a tradition of the accounts department at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital.

All efforts to reach Mr Anthony Akorli for further investigation has remained null and void as the accountant has refused to answer the phone calls of the auditors and the hospital's administrators.

Captain Smart who secretly managed to have in possesion a copy of the reports from the auditors poured his heart out vis-à-vis the issue and adviced the culprits involved in such an encroachment be arrested to face judgement.
