AMA Boss Escapes Death By Inches

Accra mayor, Stanley Adjiri Blankson is recovering from minor injuries sustained whilst attempting to discipline a recalcitrant driver at Kaneshie, a suburb of Accra.

The incident, which happened over the weekend, attracted many residents of the capital with some newspapers claiming that he escaped death narrowly.

Speaking on the Super Morning Show, Stanley Adjiri Blankson explained the circumstances leading to the incident, adding that he is currently on a short sick leave.

“There is no semblance of civilisation in the Kaneshie area at all, people are doing their own thing as if there was no law in this country, in other words we were trying to ease traffic when a Hyundai trotro vehicle came and stopped closely by me so I drew his attention and said did you see your colleagues move to the other side of the road, he didn't mind me and was calling on passengers to board his vehicle.”

The Mayor said he then placed a foot on the floor of the front part of the vehicle with his left hand holding the roof of the door to question him.

He said those standing by heard the way the driver was talking to him and they drew his attention that he was the mayor adding, “ I think out fright he just sped off and in the cause of that I had to hung on to the vehicle so I managed to hold onto the top of the door only to realised that there was so much rust on the door that my weight forced the door to break and I fell like a coconut”,.
