Garu-Tempane (UE) Sept. 1 GNA - Mr Albert Akuka Alalzuuga, the District Chief Executive of Garu-Tempane in the Upper East Region, has presented five Deloba 125-35 Haojin motor bikes valued at GH ȼ 23,000.00 to the Departments of Agriculture and Social Welfare in the District.

Presenting the bikes, Mr Alalzuuga said it was part of the Assembly's effort to actualise the Central Government's effort at enforcing the decentralised concept of administration in the country.

He said that would promote good governance at the grassroots level as the two departments would be able to collect and send the requisite information related to their day to day administration from people in remote communities for the dispensation of good democracy.

He said it would encourage the people to contribute to issues concerning the promotion of good governance towards the development of the country.

Mr Philip Baazeng, the Coordinating Director of the Assembly, called on the beneficiary departments to put the motor bikes to good use for the Assembly to achieve its intended aim.

He urged other departments to present their reports in good time to the Assembly so that their needs could be captured in the annual planning budget in order to enable the Assembly to plan its budget well.

Mr Denise Asampanbilla, the District Director of Agriculture, who received the motor bikes on behalf of the beneficiaries, assured the Assembly that they would be used responsibly.

Mr Asampanbilla lauded the initiative and said it would solve the transportation challenges that the Department had suffered and enable the Directorate to boost agricultural extension delivery in the District.
