The Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) have agreed “in principle” to suspend any intended actions over the right of ownership and of occupancy of the trades union building, Following a meeting held between the two groups at the instance of Mr Yaw Barima, outgoing minister for manpower development and employment.

A statement issued in Accra yesterday by the ministry said, “the minister pleaded with the TUC and the ICU to allow for due processes of the law in the matter rather than resort to measures that might have dire consequences for the interest of workers.”

The minister advised both parties to seek redress from the soon-to-be inaugurated National Labour Commission or take the matter to the appropriate court for settlement.

The meeting, which was held last week Friday, was attended by the TUC chairman, Mr Alex Boney while the ICU was represented by its general secretary, Mr Napoleon Kpoh, the statement said.
