Agona East and West communities educated on Capitation

Agona-Abodom (C/R), Aug. 31, GNA - The Management of Agona East and Agona-West Area branch of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has ended a programme to educate the people on Capitation.

Mr Josiah Doam Kittoe, local Manager of the NHIA said 10 communities in the operational area were covered during the first phase.

They are Agona-Nyakrom, Agona-Kwamang, Upper Bobikuma, Agona - Nsaba, and Agona Swedru Bibianiha.

The people who attended durbars organised by the NHIA, were sensitised on the capitation system claims payment to be operational in the Central Region.

Mr Kittoe said under the capitation claims settlement system, clients would be empowered to change their healthcare facility after six months, if they find the services rendered to them to be unsatisfactory.

Mr Sakyi Sam, Agona West Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, said the capitation system is to curb delays in claims payment and ensure speedy settlement of providers claims.

This is because funds to cater for the healthcare services of NHIS clients would be made available to the accredited service providers long before they fall sick.

He said that the system would pose serious customer/ worker relationship challenge to accredited facilities who might decide to handle their capitation registered clients recklessly.

'It is therefore advisable for accredited healthcare providers in the area to cultivate the best type of working relation spirit that would attract more NHIS clients into their fold,' Mr Sam said.
